Installation
Install Chord on your Mac and get ready for your first sequence.
Download Chord
Download Chord-aarch64.dmg from the latest Chord release. The published app targets Apple Silicon Macs.
Open the disk image, drag Chord into Applications, and launch it.
Grant Accessibility access
Chord needs macOS Accessibility access to recognize its activation shortcut and handle keys in chord mode.
When prompted, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and enable Chord. Follow any relaunch prompt after changing the permission.
Open chord mode
- Hold Caps Lock.
- Press Space and keep it held.
- Release Caps Lock. Keep holding Space.
The chord panel shows your current input and available commands. Type 0,, then release Space to open Settings.
Add your apps
Chord installs a few default packages on first launch. To use the current official package collection, open Settings → Chords → Chord Monorepos, add KeyChord/chords, and select packages under Packages to use.
See installing packages for the difference between monorepos, standalone repositories, and local folders.
Next step
Walk through your first chord, or visit troubleshooting if the activation shortcut does not open the panel.
